The Chinese tattoo of Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie has a small Chinese tattoo character on her left shoulder blade. (See the attached picture.) What does it mean?

Well, it means “death”. In Chinese tradition, people are usually trying to avoid this character. In fact, there is a whole line of superstition associated with it. The number four, for example, because it sounds similar to the word “death” (both pronounced as ssu, only with a different tone) is avoided as much as possible in license plate and phone numbers.
